pre-AWE (yes, seriously) drabble challenge response, drabbles 9 and 12

So, I was posting some old stories on ff.net, and after the initial shock and horror that it's been over  three years since AWE came out, I realised that I never finished posting my drabble challenge fics.  And yes, I know this place is deserted and I've been over the three-years-too-late part, but for the sake of completeness, the rest of these are getting posted.  I have a touch of OCD, what can I do?

Title: Half turn to go (borrowed from Christina Rosetti, with every intention of giving it back)
    Prompt: 9, Leaving
    Characters/Pairings: W/E
A/N: This was an experiment.  Quite possibly one of those experiments where it's best to step away from the test-tube slowly and with safety glasses firmly in place, but oh well.

Title: Not all treasure is silver and gold
    Prompt: 12, Buried treasure
    Characters: Jack, Ana-Maria (sort of)

Fic: The Freedom to Live (Jack/Will, post AWE, NC-17)
    Title: The Freedom to Live
    Author: [info]hatofhornigold
    Rating: NC-17
    Pairing: Jack/Will
Warning: Character death, but not in the sort of way that makes that character stop walking, talking or doing other things.
Notes: When a hero’s journey ends, first comes the refusal to return home, but the return brings mastery of death and a freedom of its own. Title from Joseph Campbell. Written as part of the Merry Pirates gift exchange for veronica_rich, who wanted a Jack/Will ‘kind of anything’.
    Beta : [info]xzombiexkittenx
Summary: The Captain of the Flying Dutchman ferries souls to the next world, but the journey can matter more than the destination, as Will discovers when the late Jack Sparrow comes aboard.

    Request, FINALLY delivered!
Well, I'm slow, there's no arguing that, since [info]teenybuffalo made this request back in May of 2007:
... backstory for the poor guy who says to Davy Jones, "I'll take my chances". And a fic about the guy who said "I'll serve, sir." We never see him again, but if he joined the crew he must be somewhere aboard getting encrusted with sea urchins or similar.

So here you are! I hope this suits, and sorry I'm so damn pokey! Lord, it's been so long since I posted anything I can't remember how to HTML comms.

    Title: Will Ye or Nay?
    Author: [info]edoraslass
Characters: Two minor, neither of which I have seen fit to give a name
Warnings: Not a one in sight.
    Genfic

Author's note: I may have fudged the years a bit on the second one; the time period when prison hulks held convicts for transportation to Australia may not align perfectly with the Golden Age of piracy. So call it AU, if it please you.

    D'OH edit
    Disclaimer: Nope, don't own it.

Edit Pt II..but it's right on time for transportation to America, so I've changed a geographical location and tweaked a line for accuracy's sake.

    Fic: Marks
    Title: 'Marks'
Rating: PG-13 for vaguely implied sexing, male/male sexing, and hurting of Jack
    Pairing: Jack/Beckett
Disclaimer: I've shanghaied 'em into me crew and set sail for the sunny waters of copyright infringement. Arr! (Or to put it another way - I own nothing, please don't sue me)
Summary: Cutler Beckett recounts to story of his first meeting with a young Jack Sparrow.

If I've inadvertently broken a rule I didn't notice in posting this, just say and I'll fix whatever it is.

    post-AWE prompt fics

I didn't post very much (at all?) last semester, but on the other hand, I have been writing.  On the other hand, it's not very good.  On the other hand (as Elerrína turns into Tevye) I have pretty much finished the prompt list, which is a bit of a novelty for me.  Good at starting things, not so good at completeing them =)
    Anyway, stories.

    Title: Not all treasure
Prompt: 19 Currency of the realm
    Rating: G
    Characters: Elizabeth, Teague
    250 words

    Prompt Response: Safe Harbor (J/W/E)
    Title: Safe Harbor
    Author: Melusina
    Pairing: Jack/Will/Elizabeth
    Rating: NC17
    Length: Approximately 2,000 words
Summary: Jack is delayed. Will broods and Elizabeth sulks.
Notes: Written for the [info]potc_dogwatch prompt "A change in the weather." Many thanks to the folks at [info]rough_magic for their assistance early on, and to [info]penknife and [info]watersword for their very helpful beta reads. This is AU after CotBP, and is set in my Interludes-verse (although it can be read as a stand-alone).

Looking for a fic of ponderosa's
When [info]ponderosa got tosed from LJ, not only did we lose her specatularly debauched HP imagery, but some pretty damn good fiction as well.
I had one in my memories; a Sparrow/Barbossa pairing called "Storm Coming".
Does anyone know if she's reposted, or where? I thought I had her friended on GJ or IJ, but I can't seem to find her, probably my own leaky brain...

    TIA and smooches!

    Songfic-ish Challenge
I've got a quick challenge for the members of this community (if the mods are fine with it, and if there's anyone active).

Go look up some of Flogging Molly's songs, and find one that strikes your fancy. Try to write a fic (no particular length) based off that song's lyrics.

Not sure where to start? I'd suggest listening to/looking up "Cruel Mistress".

    September 19th
Ok given that september 19th is international Talk Like a Pirate Day, I felt it was only fitting that we dedicated fans of all things piratey (it's a word) do something to honour this occasion. To that end (and if the mods don't mind) I'd like to extend a drabble challenge to all comm members. Write a drabble that celebrates Pirate!Speak. Rejoice in your 'Arrrs', your 'Avasts', your 'Pieces of Eight' and hoist those colours!

Let's see what makes your Roger Jolly ;)

Worldbuilding for Shipwreck city/cove/island ... err sea turtles!
Well, I can't say it's nine weeks after AWE (guidelines!), but I'll call this the ninth weekly activity at least...

"Shipwreck City, in Shipwreck Cove, on Shipwreck Island proves one thing – that while pirates are clever clogs capable of the most ingenious evil schemes, they are an unimaginative bunch when it comes to naming things. Once inside this rogues' refuge, however, you'll see plenty of evident of their resourcefulness – in recycling other people's belongings. The whole place is built out of derelict and broken ships, and you'll find shops selling weapons, instruments and jewellery. It's a surprisingly homey hangout with pirate urchins playing in the streets and hungry buccaneers building a homemade barbecue out of old torture equipment."
PotC: The Complete Visual Guide page 88

According to the visual guide, this city in a cove is located inside a volcanic crater, the only entrance to it is called The Devil's Throat. Is that all the information we have on this fascinating place? In her post here , [info]glinda4thegood said she'd love to have a worldbuilding session concerning this island (can it be called an island since it's water surrounded by land?)

Already, it's been mentioned in the comments of her post that it's possible the city moves, or it's located in the Caribbean, the Azores, Madagascar, or the Caymans.

And what about those damn sea turtles?

I'm turning off comments here so we can all congregate in one spot in her post.

    Worldbuilding Shipwreck Cove?
Is there any interest in joint "worldbuilding" to figure out the details of Shipwreck Cove and Shipwreck City?

I'm reading bits and pieces by various authors, and it might be a great resource to have a common explanation of how the city was built, and how it functions.

Is there rock under that pile or ships? Where does the fresh water come from? How does garbage/sewage get handled? How do they light and ventilate the place? Are they prepared for fire? What services are available?

Wikipedia says the cove is located (possibly) in the South China Sea . . . does anyone here have a different probable location, based on the timeline in AWE?

If there is interest -- can anyone suggest a good way to organize the exercise?
